HOW TO DEPOSIT A CHECK

depositing a check

WHERE CAN I DEPOSIT A CHECK?

You can deposit your checks with your debit card at dedicated BNP Paribas ATMs (ILS), at a BNP Paribas branch, in special mailboxes inside or outside branches or by mailing them to your branch.

USE A CUSTOMIZED DEPOSIT SLIP

At the back of your checkbook, you will find 5 customized check deposit slips with your name and bank account information that you can use to easily deposit your checks at branches and expedite the availability of funds.

If you need more, or if you use customized check deposit slips regularly, you can sign up for an automatic deposit slip booklet renewal contract. These are pre-printed deposit slips with your name, address and bank account information.

You can also order them in booklets of 10 at a branch or by calling the Customer Service Center at +33 (0)1 57 08 22 00. For any claim or dispute regarding the performance of the contract, you can contact your branch advisor on their direct line (standard rates apply).

You can either choose to pick up your personalized deposit slips at your branch or receive them by mail at your home within 10 business days. If you live abroad, they will be sent to your branch.

Each deposit slip consists of two copies: the first for your branch, the second for you.

  1. FILL OUT
the deposit slip, specifying the date, the amount of each check deposited as well as the issuer's bank, the total deposit amount and the number of checks.
  2. DETACH AND KEEP
the 2nd copy of the deposit slip.
  3. CONFIRM
that the back of your checks have been signed and that you have included your account number.
  4. INSERT
the checks and deposit slip into an "Express Check Deposit" envelope and drop it into the branch's box (only if you do not deposit your checks at a teller window or ATM). You can also mail everything to your branch.

Please note:
Please consult your BNP Paribas branch advisor for the terms and conditions regarding checks in foreign currencies or checks in euros issued outside of France.

Posting dates

For credits:

  • D+1 business day (D being the transaction date) if the check deposit is made before 3 pm
  • D+2 business days if the check deposit is made after 3 pm

For debits: D, the transaction day

The application of a posting date to check deposit transactions may be expressed by the billing of debited interest in the case of previous debit transactions being carried out.

Tip

For a check deposited in an ATM, standard posting dates apply:

  • Starting from the transaction date specified on the ATM receipt when the deposit is made on a business day
  • Starting from the first business day following the transaction day, when the deposit is made on a non-business day
