managing your accounts
moving transfer your account

Transferring your account to another branch

To begin

You must create a transfer order for the accounts, policies and services that you wish to have transferred. The order is free of charge.

To transfer your accounts to a BNP Paribas branch abroad, please contact your current branch.

With Permanent Banking References, when you switch branches:

  • Your account numbers and policy numbers remain the same
  • Your customer number and PIN code for all online services remain the same
  • You can continue using your payment methods during the transfer period
  • Your records are conserved

Transfer order

A transfer order can be obtained at your old branch, new branch or any other BNP Paribas branch. Joint-account holders must both sign the order.

If you give the order to a branch other than your old branch, you (and the joint-account holder) must each provide a photo ID.

Please note

For technical reasons, an automatic account transfer is not possible:

  • For transfers from a BNP Paribas branch located in Metropolitan France to a BNP Paribas branch located abroad or in French overseas regions and territories.
  • For transfers from a BNP Paribas branch located abroad or in French overseas regions and territories to a BNP Paribas branch located in Metropolitan France.

Your branch advisor will help you find solutions for changing branches.

ACCOUNT NUMBERS

When transferring your account to another branch, all of your account (e.g. checking, savings, etc.) and policy numbers will remain the same.

CHECKBOOKS

You can continue using your checkbook. If you opted for automatic renewal, your checkbook will automatically be sent to your new branch once the last ten checks have been processed.

CARDS

You can continue using your current card(s). The PIN code(s), card number(s) and conditions of use remain the same. If your card(s) is/are in the process of being renewed with delivery to the branch, the new card(s) will be kept at your old branch while awaiting your instructions.

OUTGOING TRANSFERS

You can send single transfers at any time using our online and mobile banking services (mabanque.bnpparibas, etc.). You can send single transfers at your new branch once the transfer of your account is complete (approximately 5 business days from the receipt of the transfer order). Existing standing orders remain valid.

DIRECT DEBIT AND INCOMING TRANSFERS

No action needs to be taken with the institution debiting your account or sending a transfer to your account.

BANK STATEMENTS

BNP Paribas will send you:

  • A bank statement with transactions posted before the transfer from your old branch
  • A bank statement with transactions posted to your transferred account starting from the date the transfer is completed

The print date of the monthly or 10-day bank statement may vary by branch. Panorama and Situation contracts will be transferred to your new branch.

POWER OF ATTORNEY

Powers and powers of attorney associated with your accounts remain unchanged; signers conserve their rights and powers.

ONLINE SERVICES

Your customer number, PIN code and all preferences (e.g. list of beneficiaries for outgoing transfers, account names, etc.) remain the same.

SAVINGS / LIFE INSURANCE / NON-LIFE AND CASUALTY INSURANCE / HEALTH INSURANCE / LOANS

All contracts and policies will automatically be transferred to your new branch.

SECURITIES

The transfer period varies according to the securities held but will not freeze buy/sell transactions.

HOME / AUTO INSURANCE

If you are only switching branches but not changing your home address, your policies are transferred automatically to your new branch. If you are changing your home address as a policy holder, you will receive a letter from Natio Assurance informing you of the contact information for your general agent with an amendment to your contract enclosed (and a quote to be signed and returned if you subscribed to your policy before 1999-10-18).

BNP ALARM AND REMOTE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM

If you have a BNP alarm and remote surveillance system and have not changed your home address, your contract will be transferred to your new branch automatically. If you are moving to a geographical zone not covered by Protection 24, your contract will be automatically cancelled.
